About Harmony Scott Jewelry & Our Mission
Harmony Scott Jewelry Design believes it is essential to express the beauty in our heart and bring forth our greatest gifts into the world. In this spirit, Harmony's designs are handmade and limited edition, set with intention and respect for each woman's Inner Goddess. Using exotic natural gemstones, fine cultured pearls, leather, sterling silver, 18kt gold, and 22kt gold vermeil, Harmony creates intricate, sophisticated, and organic jewelry. Her mission is to evoke and support the powerful feminine energy of the women who collect her creations.

Harmony's store in Carbondale, Colorado and her extensive website are run by a small group of creative women in the Roaring Fork Valley. Her team is passionate about connecting each customer with the pieces that speak most strongly to their authentic style.

Harmony began making her jewelry in 1998 from a rustic cabin on the top of Aspen Mountain. Raised by hippie parents between the tropical island of Kaua'i and the Colorado Rockies, she found her unique path at a young age. Harmony apprenticed with a close family friend in the ancient Etruscan art of gold granulation and jewelry fabrication, applying skilled craftsmanship to her artistic style. Her use of sumptuous colors and materials, combined with detailed technique and positive intention has drawn admirers from the very start. Many of her long-time customers remember collecting their first "Harmony" at Aspen's local markets, fairs, and festivals during these early years.

Harmony's bohemian lifestyle business brings her twice a year from Carbondale to Bali, where conscious balance of the spiritual and material world is practiced amongst a creative global community. Since 2002, she has worked in partnership with a small group of Indonesian artisans near Ubud, teaching them her intricate technique and high standards of quality in her original designs, where her limited edition collections are made by hand, with love!

For over 15 years, Harmony's work is created with the intention to reveal and open each woman to inner beauty, authentic style, and unique feminine energy. Harmony can be found in her shops making custom jewelry, creating one-of-a-kind 18kt gold pieces, enriching her practice of ethical and visionary business, playing on the tango floor or the ski slopes, and immersing herself in the inspiring nature of the Rocky Mountains.

Returns, Exchanges & Warranty

PERMANENT SALE ITEMS ARE NONE REFUNDABLE. Any item purchased from the Sale Collection is non-returnable. They are final sale items.
What is the online return policy?

We want you to love your jewelry and feel confident and beautiful in your purchase. Please note that we are a small company of artists and our jewelry is handmade. There are variations in gems and pearls that are not only natural but desirable. They add character and distinction to your wearable art. Please contact us with any questions or problems you may have and we will do our best to answer your request with efficiency and integrity.

Refunding or Exchanging Web/Phone Purchases (non-sale items):
Refund: We will refund (money back) a purchase within 14 days of receipt, excluding sale items, special orders, and ReGem jewelry. You may return any item for a refund, minus cost of shipping and insurance. Shipping/insurance will only be refunded if the return is a result of our error, or the merchandise was damaged. Please fill out the included refund/exchange form, follow shipping instructions and return with the item and any extra information. The item must be in its original, unworn condition and a refund will be issued to the original purchasing credit card after the item is received. 

Exchange: We will exchange a piece of jewelry within 30 days of receipt, excluding sale items, special orders, and ReGem jewelry. Please fill out the included refund/exchange form including the item you wish to receive in exchange and follow the shipping instructions. You have one year to use your store credit from the exchange date. If the exchange/return is due to an error on our part HSJD will pay for the return shipping to you.

Store credits may be redeemed within one year of return. Credits cannot be used directly on our website; however, you will need to call our store to place your order to use your credit as payment. 1-800-690-1948

What is your return policy on special orders?

Special Orders are Final Sale Only! Special orders are just that; we are making the piece specifically and uniquely for you. We are unable to refund or exchange these pieces. In the design process we will do our best to insure the piece is exactly what you want.

Policy on In-Store Purchases
We only offer Exchange/Store Credit for purchases made in our stores within 30 days of purchase. You may exchange any item (excluding special orders/Sale Items). Please stop into either of our stores or contact us for shipping instructions. Upon receipt of merchandise at HSJD, if you are out of state, we will let you know the amount of your exchange due or store credit issued. You will receive the full amount of the item for exchange. Store credits cannot be used directly on our websites. You will need to call us in order to use the credit as payment or visit either of our two galleries. Store credits will always be put under your name. In case of a gift exchange, we will issue the store credit in the name of the gift recipient.

**We offer Returns on the Web and over the phone and NOT in the store because we feel it is important that you have the opportunity to see, try on, connect and contemplate your jewelry purchase as you would with the in store experience. Unfortunately, we have had the sad experience of people purchasing an item, wearing it a few times and then wanting to return it for a full refund. As a small business, we are unable to operate this way. We hope you understand.

How to Package Returns/Exchanges Safely

Please use a secure shipping box with padding inside (tissue, newspaper, cloth, etc) and insure for the full value. We are not responsible for damage to any item that is improperly packaged or lost in transit when shipped back to us. We use USPS small flat rate shipping boxes with insurance.

What is your shipping policy?
Shipping is not included in the cost of our jewelry, and must be paid in addition to your products. We typically ship USPS Priority Flat Rate Boxes (Priority Mail Insured).  Every order is fully insured and packaged with tissue and satin bags. Upon placing your order, your pieces will be shipped within 1-2 business days, and an email with your tracking number and confirmation will be sent. After your order is shipped, expect to receive your jewelry within 3-5 business days. If you ordered under your account, enjoy live tracking of your order. Shipping for returns or exchanges must be paid for by the customer.

  • Do you ship internationally?
    Yes! We ship internationally to many countries. International shipping is sent via USPS Global Priority mail, and varies in price depending on the insurance value and shipping option. Flat rate international shipping starts at $24 plus insurance for the value of the jewelry. We will fill out a custom form for the designated country and take it to the post office. We are not responsible for jewelry held in customs or any tariff fees.

    What is Your Warranty Policy?

    All of our jewelry includes a one year warranty to fix any defect that shows up under normal wear, free of charge. After one year, we will charge a nominal fee for the repair, along with shipping and insurance. Harmony personally does all repairs in-house. Certain designs cannot be remade or replaced due to the intricacy of the work, and the specific gemstones needed for the task. We are always happy to work with you, and your satisfaction is our priority. Please contact us by phone or email with any questions or concerns, we would be happy to help you.

    Jewelry "no, no's" and Exceptions to Warranty Coverage

  • Have not worn your jewelry in the shower, tub, pool, or hot springs. This also applies to any jewelry with leather, as it will stretch and wear out more quickly when wet. Many water additives and chemicals will tarnish silver and damage pearls and some soft gemstones. Some locations have water that is so full of tarnishing elements, it is best to store your silver jewelry in a plastic bag to protect it.
  • Have not dropped, smashed, or yanked your jewelry. If you drop a glass on the floor, will it break? You bet, and so will gemstones if treated roughly! This is especially important with large stone pendants & larger cuts of gemstones, the delicate "briolette" gemstones that are drilled at the top of the stone, and some of the softer gemstones like Turquoise. Please be careful when putting on and removing your jewelry, stand over a rug to be safe. Also, our jewelry uses very fine, thin metal wire to achieve the delicacy and intricacy of our work. This is quite durable for normal wear, but can be seriously weakened if bent, smashed, or pulled roughly.
  • Have kept your pearls away from chemicals! Put your pearls on after the hairspray, and don't wear rings or bracelets when you are using cleaning agents or chemicals. This also applies to Turquoise, which will darken and change color over time with exposure to body oils and skin chemistry.
  • Have treated your Gold Vermeil jewelry with care, remember that there is a thin layer of gold over the silver to achieve the "gold look" that should not be scratched or rubbed unnecessarily, and also should be protected from cosmetics, hairspray, and body lotions, as these will erode the gold more quickly.

  • I am ordering a gift--How can you help me?

    Great choice! We are happy to mail any gifts for you, wrapped and with a card. Gift or not, every Harmony Scott piece is lovingly packaged in brocade satin pouches for a beautiful presentation and safe storage. For an extra touch, we can put your pouch in a black gift boxes with an organza gold bow for no extra charge. For wrapping and a card to be included, it must be noted upon the placement of your order. Simply state in the ‘notes’ section of our checkout that your jewelry purchase is a gift and you would like it wrapped. To personalize your order, include a message to the receiver in our notes section as well and we will include it with your order.

    What happens if I lose an earring?
    Darn! Sorry you lost an earring, but we will do everything to help! In most cases we can match the other earring if we still have the materials. Just send us the single and we will match it for ½ to 2/3 the price of the original earring pair. This is dependent upon the complexity of the earring, if we have one already made, or if we have to make one special to complete the pair. We add shipping and insurance to this cost. If we are unable to match your single earring, we are happy to turn your earring into a pendant by wrapping a charm ring on it for $10. Just use our contact information and we will do our best to help you.

    What happens if the jewelry I receive looks different than the item on the website?

    We make our sincerest effort with our photos on the website to be a close representation of the jewelry that you will receive. However, slight variations in color, shape, size and texture of gemstones, pearls and precious metals are not only natural, but are actually an added element of beauty. This creates distinction of making a piece feel alive, unique and handmade. So your jewelry is truly one of a kind! Natural things have the nuance of difference, and we feel our work’s strength is in its individuality. That being said, if you feel that the jewelry you have received is not to your satisfaction, we want to hear from you so we can correct the feeling.     Gold Vermeil & Cleaning Instructions
  • Our gold vermeil is essentially sterling silver "dipped" in 22 karat gold. More technically, it is 22kt gold electroplated over sterling silver, which gives our jewelry an extra luxurious and distinctive look of high-karat gold for a fraction of the expense. Gold Vermeil is a bit more expensive than sterling silver alone due to the high cost of gold, but really gives you an amazing look for a very reasonable price. Gold Vermeil, however, can wear off over time because of the thin layer. Exposure to skin chemistry (including perfume and cosmetics), body oils, and abrasion can fade the gold. To keep your Gold Vermeil jewelry looking its best, be especially careful not to shower or swim while wearing it. Be conscious of hairspray, perfume, cosmetics and lotions on your jewelry.

    When cleaning your gold vermeil use a very soft cloth or gentle hand soap and filtered water. Please do not use tarnish remover or harsh jewelry polish, as these will strip the gold layer quickly. If you love the rich color gold, but don’t want to deal with the plating or ‘fading’ of gold vermeil, the only alternative is to invest in a pure gold piece.   • Sterling Silver, Cleaning & Storage
    Sterling Silver is typically printed with ".925" signifying that the metal is 92.5% silver, alloyed in with another metal to make the otherwise soft silver harder. Harmony uses a small amount of Copper which is a higher-quality alloy and less allergenic than other options (like Nickel).

    Does Sterling Silver Tarnish? Yes! Tarnish is a natural process with sterling silver, but it can easily be polished back to a shine. If you notice your silver jewelry tarnishing, you can store your piece in a clean plastic bag with a piece of clean cardboard to absorb any tarnishing elements that may be in your air. Silver tarnished from chemicals in the air or water like chlorine or sulfur that get into the air and tarnish jewelry more quickly. Did you know, the bathroom is the worst place to store jewelry? Avoid wearing your silver jewelry in the shower, tub, pool and especially the hot springs! The chemicals and additives in most water will quickly tarnish silver and gold vermeil.

    To clean your sterling silver, you may use any jewelry buff cloth or flannel cloth to gently remove tarnish from silver. For more serious issues, we offer small, all natural and convenient jewelry cleaning kit. Included in this kit is a polish cream that is nontoxic, biodegradable (made out of coconut and banana oils) and safe for pearls, gemstones and your health, a small toothbrush to get even the most intricate areas clean, as well as a small buff and polishing cloth with instructions included. If you need help now, you can try white toothpaste with a soft toothbrush. Concentrate only on the silver chain and try not to touch pearls or gemstones. Before rinsing, use a clean, moist cloth to gently polish the silver chain and remove tarnish, then rinse in warm water and air dry. Makeup or grime can be removed from pearls and gemstones with warm filtered water and a tiny bit of gentle hand soap, rub with a soft cloth to clean and air dry.

    How do I make my leather last?
    Harmony's leather is authentic leather from Greece. While it is a durable, flexible, beautiful material, it is not invincible! Just as you wouldn't wear your leather shoes in the water, your leather jewelry should not get wet without expecting it to become stretched and worn. Please avoid wearing your leather pieces in the shower, tub, pool or hot springs! This also applies to washing the dishes, your face, the dog etc. If you will be getting the leather excessively wet, take the piece off, as it will stretch and wear out more quickly. Also, any pulling of the leather will deform the silver work and weaken or break the piece. With proper care your leather jewelry should give you long-lasting, comfortable wear and enjoyment.

    Fashion Tips for Online Ordering

    How do I choose the right necklace length?

    The best way to estimate the right length for you is to measure a necklace or bracelet that fits the way you like. People have very different neck & wrist sizes, so when in doubt, measure! Many of our pieces are adjustable, so take into account that a necklace we are offering at 15" with 2" of adjustment will be able to be lengthened up to 17" long. If you are buying a gift for someone, here are some guidelines that will help.

  • 12-15" is choker length. It will fit up on the slender part of the neck. This is a fun length for children & teenagers, petite or slim women, or people who really like chokers (not everyone does!). 15" should sit right at the base of the neck, near the hollow of the throat. This is a great length for slim, young, and/or active women. It will fit inside most necklines and won't get in your way if you are running around. Again, people have very different neck sizes, so it is best to check before ordering a necklace of this length. Many of our 15" necklaces have a 2" adjustment chain, allowing the necklace to go from 15"-17" depending on where you attach the clasp - please read the necklace description for info.
  • 16" is a standard short necklace length. This should come about 1" to 2" below the hollow of the throat. Perfect for ladies who like a shorter length without being too tight.
  • 17" is a good intermediate length, and a nice choice for a larger or taller woman who likes her necklaces to not be too long or too short. Many of our 17" necklaces have a 2" adjustment chain, allowing the necklace to go from 17"-19" depending on where you attach the clasp - please read the necklace description for info.
  • 18" is a standard medium length, it should hit about 3" to 4" below the base of the throat. This can be a comfortable choice for women who are of medium build or are taller than the average.
  • 20" and longer, is a great choice for women who like their necklaces to come to the center of the chest, be worn over turtlenecks or sweaters, or who have larger neck sizes.
  • "Opera" length describes a necklace of about 32" or longer, that can be worn long over dresses, sweaters, or turtlenecks and usually can be worn in a variety of creative ways. This can be a great length for the young and fashionable who like versatility in their jewelry, and can also be the perfect choice for an older woman who has arthritis or trouble with clasps - they can simply slip the necklace over their head for easy enjoyment!

  • How do I make a special order?

    If you are looking for a specific color or style, but don’t see it on the website please contact us with a photo of the outfit you would like to match the item code of any jewelry on our website that is closest to what you want in terms of color, design, length, style etc. so we can create something special just for you or your special occasion.

    Please remember that Special Orders include a consultation fee with Harmony Scott, and are priced according to the time, gemstones, and one-of-a-kind nature of each piece. We will always give you an estimate before we begin work on your special piece or any charges are incurred.

    Can you adjust my jewelry, such as lengthen, shorten, or update?

    We can shorten and lengthen, or change clasps on most Harmony Scott Jewelry pieces. When requesting a length change, please be sure to measure a necklace or bracelet that fits you perfectly so we can make it the exact size you wish. For extensive changes, please call or email us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

    We do offer most of our necklaces and bracelets in two different lengths to solve this issue. However, if you need additional length or made shorter, just let us know. This may require a charge due to the addition of gemstones and metal as well as our time. We would be happy to give you an estimate.

    Our leather wrap bracelets cannot be shortened. When we add length it may change the ‘look’, but it can be done. Just ask us!
    Earrings can usually be shortened. You can also consider trying a ‘stud’ top, this will shorten the overall length about 1/5”.

    A select group of fine galleries and boutiques carry our jewelry around the country. Since all of our designs are limited edition, our retail customers carry a unique and changing line.     Wholesale Information

    Thank you for your interest in our fabulous, retail proven jewelry!
    Please contact us via email with your store location, contact information and tax ID number.

    We will be happy to work with you in becoming a wholesale account once we have the needed information. We require verification of your store’s retail status as well as an interior and exterior phf your store before we give you access to the wholesale pricing. It is not for personal purchases!

    Wholesale minimum order amount is $750. After the first order there is no minimum on re-orders within 6 months of same calendar year of previous order. If your re-order is after 6 months, or placed in the next calendar year, wholesale re-order minimum of $750 will apply. Additionally, we require a minimum calendar yearly purchase total of $2000 or more to keep your wholesale account active. We are not able to do business with any store that purchases less than $2000 wholesale per calendar year. We have found this will create and sustain a presentable and well-rounded display that will ensure your success with our line.

    Our accepted payments for wholesale are a cleared company check or credit card payment. The recommended retail price is approximately double the wholesale cost.
    We offer complimentary beautiful brocade pouches in perfect sizes for our jewelry. We will ship you as many pouches as items you order.
