Our Carbondale Gallery now carries the new leather line by rustic naturalist, Trevor Washko of Cold Mountain Craft. These heirloom quality leather goods are made from oil-tanned bison hide made in the USA. Each piece is hand-punched, and hand-stitched by a unique group of individuals in a little workshop tucked in the mountains outside of Aspen, Colorado.
Trevor's inspiration to pick up leather and thread came from a basic, but persistent need. "After many journals failed to hold up to the harsh days, I designed and created a leather cover to protect my thoughts and observations. Beyond a faint, winding uphill path, I escaped for quiet time on Cold Mountain. There, at a cabin perched at 10,000 feet, Cold Mountain Craft was slowly born."
Handmade leather goods inspired by Aspen's fashion-scene and the nature-scene.
Harmony Scott Jewelry Design now offers a variety of Trevor's fine and unique leather items using hand-selected oil-tanned hides, which are hand-cut, hand-punched, hand-sewn.
To the left, the secret pocket of the Morning Star Bag is revealed in this two-tone leather bag that has been beautifully hand-stitched.
The men who come into the gallery are always surprised when they find something in a jewelry store. The designs are etched with Aspen Leaves, Fly Fishermen, Trout, Golfers, Elk, Colorado or Texas Flags, a treble clef, and more.
Beautiful and functional, durable and personal, simple and authentic; my work is a reflection of me, emerging from the place that I call home.
